The 2021 CRA Convention features a Hallingdal Box by JoSonja,
October 14 - 17, 2021.

In 1974, JoSonja was awarded a Master Teacher's Certificate by the National Society of Tole and Decorative Painters. In 1980 the Silver Palette award was bestowed by the same organization in recognition of outstanding contribution to the advancement of Decorative Art. In 1996, the Vesterheim Gold Medal (VGM) in Rosemaling, from the Norwegian American Museum in Decorah, Iowa was awarded. In 2007 she was awarded the Presidents Commendation award for service by the Society of Decorative Painters.

The project will be a Hallingdal Box designed by JoSonja for the CRA!  

Wood, Patterns, Paint and mediums are provided, but you should bring your own basic painting supplies

Please Note: You must bring Proof of Covid-19 Vaccination for attendance. No exceptions.  Masks are a personal choice.
Also, if you are experiencing flu symptoms, please do not attend.  A refund can be arranged.

Prep work is done on Thursday, Oct 14 starting at 11AM.  Classes are Friday thru Sunday,  from 9am  to 5:30pm (Sunday class finishes at 4:30).  There is a 2 hour lunch break during class days.  The hotel will offer a box lunch to purchase or you are welcome to visit the many restaurants within walking distance.  Detailed Schedule

The banquet will be held Saturday night at the Red Lion.  The convention fee includes this banquet.  You may bring guests for an additional fee. See banquet meal choices below.

Registration opens June 16.  2020/2021 CRA members are given priority until July 1.

You must be a 2021 CRA member to attend.  Due to Covid-19, if you were a 2020 CRA member, your membership has been extended to 2021***

The fee is $275, plus $15 if you are not a 2020 or 2021 CRA member.  A deposit of $75 is due at the time of registration.  Deposit is non-refundable unless the event is cancelled*.

Space is limited. Once the convention is filled the registration applications will be put on the wait list**.  As you register, you will be notified by email that your registration has been received, and also when your payment is received.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone and learning from the best!

The convention also provides a way for you to buy and sell things on the trade floor

Once your registration is confirmed, we suggest that you make travel and hotel arrangements as early as possible.

* If the Convention is cancelled, or if you have a health issue that leads you to decide to not attend, we will refund the deposit and convention fee that you may have paid. 

Banquet Meal Choices - Served with green salad, rolls and butter and a chef’s choice dessert.  Served with freshly brewed coffee, decaf, iced tea or lemonade.  One meal is included with convention registration.  Guest meals can be ordered for $32 .

  • Slow Roasted Tri Tip with mushroom demi-glaze

  • Seared King Salmon with citrus butter glaze

  • Three Cheese Roasted Chicken with fontina, mozzarella, provolone and fresh tomato basil

  • Eggplant Parmigiana with breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese, baked between layers of tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese

*** If you sent in payment for 2021, and you were a 2020 member, your membership is extended to 2022.
